You can't cast a spell for both its cleave cost and another alternative cost. For example, if an effect gives an Alchemist's Retrieval in your graveyard a flashback cost of {U}, you can't cast it from your graveyard for its cleave cost.

Wyjaśnienie po polsku
Alchemist's Retrieval
Instant
Cleave (You may cast this spell for its cleave cost. If you do, remove the words in square brackets.)
Return target nonland permanent [you control] to its owner's hand.
(You may cast this spell for its cleave cost. If you do, remove the words in square brackets.)Return target nonland permanent [you control] to its owner's hand.
Jak działa karta?
Cleave pozwala zapłacić alternatywny koszt ; jeśli to zrobisz, usuń tekst w nawiasach kwadratowych i możesz targetować dowolny nonland permanent.
Alchemist's Retrieval to instant z opcją cleave. Standardowy oracle text: Cleave (You may cast this spell for its cleave cost. If you do, remove the words in square brackets.) Return target nonland permanent [you control] to its owner's hand.
- Jeśli zapłacisz koszt cleave () zamiast normalnego kosztu many, usuń fragment w nawiasach kwadratowych z tekstu zaklęcia — czyli zamiast „Return target nonland permanent [you control] to its owner's hand.” będzie „Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.”
- Cleave to alternatywny koszt płacony zamiast kosztu mana zaklęcia. Nie zmienia on jego mana value (wcześniej nazywanej converted mana cost).
- Jeżeli efekt pozwala ci rzucić to zaklęcie bez płacenia jego kosztu many (cast without paying its mana cost), nie możesz zamiast tego zapłacić kosztu cleave.
- Próba użycia cleave, gdy efekt pozwala rzucić zaklęcie bez płacenia kosztu many — nie można wtedy użyć cleave.
Jeśli zapłacisz cleave , możesz zwrócić dowolny target nonland permanent (np. czyjś artefakt) — tekst „you control” zostaje usunięty.

A cleave cost is an alternative cost that's paid instead of the spell's mana cost. Casting a spell for its cleave cost doesn't change the spell's mana value.
If an effect allows you to “cast a spell without paying its mana cost,” you can't cast that spell for its cleave cost.
If you cast a spell for its cleave cost, that spell doesn't have any of the text in square brackets while it's on the stack.
