Cast one half: when casting the card you choose either Failure (the instant half) or Comply (the sorcery half). Only the chosen half is put onto the stack; the other half's characteristics are ignored while the spell is on the stack.
Comply's name choice: As Comply resolves, you choose a card name. You do not choose the name when casting; you choose it as the spell resolves.
Effect of Comply: When Comply resolves you name a card. Until end of turn, your opponents can't cast spells with that exact name. You may name a land card; naming a land does not stop opponents from playing lands because lands are played, not cast.
Interaction with split-card naming effects: If an effect asks you to choose a card name, you may name either Failure or Comply, but you may not name both at once.
Aftermath and casting from graveyard: If an effect allows you to cast the aftermath half (Comply) from a graveyard, you may cast it from there. If you do cast Comply from the graveyard, when it would leave the stack it is exiled instead of going elsewhere.
Returning copies to hand: If a copy of the spell is returned to its owner's hand, it is moved there and then ceases to exist as a spell on the stack; it is not countered.
Spell removal vs. countering: If a spell is removed from the stack (for example returned to hand) before it resolves, it doesn't resolve; removal is different from being countered.
Casting restrictions: If an effect prevents you from casting spells of a certain color or type, you can still cast one half of a split card if that specific half is legal to cast. The half you don't cast is ignored while the cast half is on the stack.

Częste pomyłki

Once you've started to cast a spell with aftermath from your graveyard, the card is immediately moved to the stack. Opponents can't try to stop the ability by exiling the card with an effect such as that of Crook of Condemnation.
