Piekło się opłaca zadaje X obrażeń wybranemu stworzeniu. Stwórz liczbę zakreślonych żetonów Treasure równą ilości nadmiarowych obrażeń zadanych temu stworzeniu w ten sposób.

Jak działa karta?

Zadajesz X obrażeń celowanemu stworzeniu. Tworzysz zakreślone żetony Treasure równe nadmiarowi obrażeń — czyli ile obrażeń przekracza to, co potrzebne do zabicia tego stworzenia, uwzględniając wcześniej zadane obrażenia i deathtouch.

Rzucasz czar Hell to Pay, wybierasz wartość X i celujesz w stworzenie. Po rozwiązaniu czaru zadaje on X obrażeń temu stworzeniu. Następnie tworzysz liczbę zakreślonych (tapped) żetonów Treasure równą ilości «excess damage» — czyli nadmiaru obrażeń zadanych temu stworzeniu w ten sposób. "Excess damage" oznacza ilość obrażeń, która przekracza to, co było potrzebne do zabicia stworzenia ("lethal damage"). Przy ustalaniu, czy obrażenia są nadmiarowe, bierze się pod uwagę obrażenia już wcześniej zaznaczone na stworzeniu oraz wszelkie efekty powodujące, że mniejsza ilość obrażeń jest śmiertelna (np. deathtouch). Treasures powstają natychmiast po zadaniu obrażeń przez ten czar, jako część jego efektu.

Częste pomyłki

Mylenie "excess damage" z samym X — Treasures liczy się według nadmiaru powyżej lethal, nie według wartości X bezpośrednio.
Nie uwzględnianie wcześniej zaznaczonych obrażeń — wcześniej zadane obrażenia zmniejszają ilość obrażeń potrzebnych do zabicia stworzenia, więc zwiększają nadmiar.
Ignorowanie deathtouch — jeśli źródło ma deathtouch, 1 punkt obrażeń jest uważany za lethal; nadmiar liczy się ponad tę wartość.

Przykład 1: Celujesz w 3/3 bez żadnych oznaczonych obrażeń i rzucasz Hell to Pay z X = 5. Czar zadaje 5 obrażeń; lethal damage dla tego stworzenia to 3, więc excess damage = 5 − 3 = 2. Excess damage has been dealt to a creature if the damage dealt to it is greater than lethal damage. Usually, this means damage greater than its toughness, although damage already marked on the creature is taken into account.

In some unusual cases, Hell to Pay may have deathtouch. Even 1 damage dealt to a creature from a source with deathtouch is considered lethal damage, so any amount greater than that will cause excess damage to be dealt, even if the total amount of damage isn’t greater than the creature’s toughness.
