Nie może atakować (Defender). Zadaje obrażenia w pierwszej fazie obrażeń (First strike).

Ściana Włóczy to stwór-artyfakt z dwoma zdolnościami widocznymi w tekście Oracle. Pierwsza to „Defender” (Obrońca). Oznacza to, że ten stwór nie może atakować; można go jedynie postawić w pozycji obronnej, by blokował ataki przeciwnika. Druga to „First strike” (Pierwsze Uderzenie). Gdy stwór ze „First strike” zadaje obrażenia w walce, robi to w pierwszej fazie obrażeń — przed stworami bez „First strike” lub „Double strike”. Jeśli blokuje lub jest blokowany przez stwora bez „First strike”, tamten stwór zginie/otrzyma obrażenia wcześniej i nie zdąży zadać obrażeń z powrotem w normalnej fazie obrażeń.

Mylenie Defendera z brakiem możliwości blokowania — Obrońca może blokować normalnie.
Zakładanie, że First strike zapobiega otrzymaniu obrażeń — jeśli przeciwnik też ma First strike lub Double strike, obie strony zadają obrażenia w fazie pierwszego uderzenia.
Mylenie First strike z Double strike — First strike zadaje obrażenia tylko w pierwszej fazie; Double strike zadaje w pierwszej i normalnej fazie obrażeń.
