To cast the split card, choose one half to cast; you cannot cast both halves at once.
While the card is not on the stack (e.g., in your library, hand, graveyard, or battlefield), it has the combined characteristics of both halves (names, mana value, types).
While you are casting a chosen half and while that half is on the stack, only the characteristics of that half matter (its name, mana cost, rules text, type line).
If an effect restricts casting by card name, you may choose either of the two names of the split card, but not both at once.
If an effect refers to the card’s mana value while it’s not on the stack, use the combined mana value of both halves.
If either target for Thrash is illegal when Thrash tries to resolve, the creature you control won’t deal damage.
If you copy a spell that is one half of a split card, the copy is that same half, not the other half.

If an effect allows you to cast a spell with certain characteristics, consider only the characteristics of the half you're casting. For example, if an effect allows you to cast a sorcery spell with mana value 2 or less from among cards in your graveyard, you could cast Assault this way, but not Battery.

Each split card has two names. If an effect instructs you to choose a card name, you may choose one of those names, but not both.

A split card's characteristics are a combination of its two halves while it is not on the stack. For example, Assault // Battery has a mana value of 5 while it is in your library. If an effect allows you to search your library for a card with mana value 4 or less, you can't find Assault // Battery.
