Jak działa karta?

Przy wejściu wybierasz: nałóż counter tarczy na wskazany permanent (zdejmuje się jeden taki counter, by zapobiec zniszczeniu lub obrażeniom), albo proliferuj — daj po jednym dodatkowm counterze każdego rodzaju wybranym permanentom i/lub graczom, którzy już mają countery.

Kiedy Proud Pack-Rhino wchodzi na pole bitwy, jego efekt etapu wejścia daje ci wybór jednej z dwóch opcji: (1) nałóż counter tarczy na wybrany permanent, albo (2) proliferuj. Opcja 1: "Put a shield counter on target permanent." — wybierasz docelowy permanent na polu bitwy i kładziesz na nim jeden counter tarczy. Ten counter działa tak, że jeśli permanent miałby otrzymać obrażenia lub miałby zostać zniszczony, zamiast tego usuwa się jeden counter tarczy i zapobiega się zniszczeniu/obrażeniom (chyba że obrażenia są niechronne). Ważne punkty: jeśli permanent ma kilka counterów tarczy, tylko jeden zostanie usunięty, a zapobieganie dotyczy całych obrażeń/zdarzenia zniszczenia przy usunięciu jednego countera; shield counters nie zapobiegają oddawaniu ofiary (sacrifice); jeśli damage jest unpreventable, damage i tak zostanie zadany, ale counter tarczy i tak zostanie usunięty; shield nie jest zdolnością istot, to po prostu counter — jeśli istota straci swoje zdolności, counter nadal działa. Opcja 2: "Proliferate." — wybierasz dowolną liczbę permanentów i/lub graczy (możesz też wybrać zero). Możesz wybierać tylko te permanenty, które już mają jakieś countery; możesz wybierać także przeciwników, jeśli mają countery. Dla każdego wybranego bytu dajesz po jednym counterze każdego rodzaju, który już się na nim znajduje (jeśli ma kilka rodzajów counterów, dostaje wszystkie te rodzaje jeszcze po jednym). Kiedy rozpoczyna się rozwiązywanie tego efektu, najpierw wybierasz, kogo dotyczy proliferacja — po tym wyborze nie można na niego odpowiedzieć, choć sam efekt można odpowiednio przerywać przed rozwiązanem.

Przykład 1: Twój permanet z jedną tarczą miałby otrzymać 3 obrażenia. Gdyby miał zostać trafiony, zamiast tego usuwasz jeden counter tarczy i obrażenia są zapobiegane. Jeśli miałby mieć dwie tarcze, tylko jedna zostanie usunięta i zapobiegnie się obrażeniom. Przykład 2: Jeśli wybierzesz proliferację, możesz wybrać przeciwnego gracza, który ma jeden counter lojalności na swojej planeswalkerze; ten planeswalker dostanie jeszcze jeden taki counter.

Rulings

If a permanent that would be dealt damage has more than one shield counter on it, that damage is prevented and only one shield counter is removed.

Shield counters don't prevent players from sacrificing creatures.

When you proliferate, you can choose any permanent that has a counter, including ones controlled by opponents. You can choose any player who has a counter, including opponents. You can't choose cards in any zone other than the battlefield, even if they have counters on them.

If a permanent with a shield counter is dealt unpreventable damage, that damage will be dealt and a shield counter will still be removed.

"Shield" is not an ability that creatures have and shield counters are not keyword counters. If a creature with a shield counter loses its abilities, the shield counter will still protect it as normal.

A creature with a shield counter on it may still be destroyed by state-based actions if it has damage marked on it equal to its toughness or has been dealt unpreventable damage by a source with deathtouch.

Removing a shield counter when a permanent would be dealt damage or destroyed isn't the same as regenerating that permanent.

You don't have to choose every permanent or player that has a counter—only the ones you want to add counters to. Since "any number" includes zero, you don't have to choose any permanents at all, and you don't have to choose any players at all.

Players can respond to a spell or ability whose effect includes proliferating. Once that spell or ability starts to resolve, however, and its controller chooses which permanents and players will get new counters, it's too late for anyone to respond.

If a player or permanent has more than one kind of counter on it, and you choose for it to get additional counters, it must get one of each kind of counter it already has. You can't have it get just one kind of counter it already has and not the others.
